I have been Honored!

I have had a very humbling experience and something that is hard for me as I don't take compliments easily. My professors and the President of the college I am attending nominated myself and one other young lady to the All-American Academic Team sponsored by the Coca Cola Scholar Foundation, Phi Theta Kappa International Honor Society and the Michigan Community College Association. Due to a glitch in the computer system at the college, the applications became buried in programs. Our applications were received too late for the All American Team; however, we were honored by being named to the All Michigan Academic Team. only 42 people out of 52 colleges statewide were selected to be on the team. We received certificates of achievement, medals and a monetary award. This was followed by being on the news, in the newspaper and a special dinner.

For me this award is something I will always remember as it has come in the autumn of my life. If life had not gotten in the way, perhaps it is something I would have earned years younger. I am certainly humbled by the thought of my peers and fellow students thinking I should deserve such an award. All I can say is, Thank you.
